When our founder George was part of a group that founded regional Australia’s first Internet service provider in 1994. From here, they became a national provider and even had a base in the Napa Valley that allowed direct satellite transmits to regional Australia.

About the passion
George’s passion for supporting regional communities saw him pivot to consultancy, working with state and federal governments to shape digital strategies – I guess you could say we’ve always championed driving tech innovation in these areas.
From here, George parted ways with the Internet provider life and started to focus on consultancy, as well as providing IT support for companies and academic organisations. Technically, this was the official start of Lateral Plains with values that still hold true today including a commitment to looking at problems differently and a regional focus.
2012 - Now
Superstar onboard
At the end of 2012, our CEO Luke joined the business, and the rest is history! In short, we started as an Internet company before becoming a consultancy, and have now grown into the fully-fledged Managed Service Provider you see (and love) today.
